The Duke and Duchess toured the mosque and courtyard, before joining a discussion with faith leaders to learn how they are promoting interfaith harmony within their communities. Le couple royal a connu un vol assez mouvementé ! Leur avion a tenté de s’envoler pour Islamabad lors de leur visite royale au Pakistan jeudi 17 octobre, mais a été forcé de retourner dans la ville de Lahore après avoir dû faire face à un violent orage.
Un passager a déclaré au Sun, qu’il s’agissait d’une « tempête assez grave », décrivant le vol comme « une montagne russe ». Le pilote a tenté d’atterrir le Royal Air Force dans deux aéroports différents. Le vol devait durer environ 24 minutes, mais l’avion était dans les airs pendant deux heures.
« La RAF s’est occupée de nous à merveille, Elle a fait un excellent travail de liaison avec tout le monde et nous a ramenés à la maison en toute sécurité », a déclaré la duchesse de Cambridge à la presse le lendemain, se disant « extrêmement reconnaissante ».

Le couple a séjourné à l’hôtel Pearl Continental de Lahore avec des journalistes, des employés du palais de Kensington et des représentants du ministère des Affaires étrangères.
Vendredi 18 octobre, William et Kate ont commencé leur journée au village d’enfants SOS, une organisation caritative basée à Lahore qui fournit une structure d’accueil et familiale à plus de 150 enfants.

The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge joined Wafia, aged seven, for tiaras and tea at the Shaukat Khanum Memorial Cancer Hospital. The @ShaukatKhanum Memorial Cancer Hospital was built by Pakistan Prime Minister @ImranKhan.pti — who The Duke and Duchess met earlier on their visit to Pakistan — and is Pakistan’s largest tertiary care cancer hospital. In 1996 and 1997 Diana, Princess of Wales visited the hospital — today The Duke and Duchess visited the children’s ward at the hospital, where they spent time with patients undergoing treatment, and spoke with their families. The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge joined dog handlers at the Army Canine Centre in Islamabad, as they trained dogs to recognise and scout out hidden explosive materials, before taking some of the puppies through their paces on an agility training course. The centre at Islamabad is modelled on the UK Defence Animal Training Centre at Melton Mowbray — the UK has provided training and advice to the Pakistan Armed Forces for over 10 years, and is currently supporting the Pakistan Counter Improvised Explosive Device (CIED) programme, which in part breeds and trains dogs to identify explosive devices.
